William Joshua (Kimbo) Kim 

Joshua Kim, age 27, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Pinckneyville, passed on Thursday, June 12, 2008. 

Joshua was born on April 7, 1981, in Pinckneyville, a son to Janet (Roberts) Kim of Pinckneyville and Yang Hoon Kim of Dowell.  Joshua graduated from Pinckneyville Community High School in 1998, attended Westminster College in Fulton, Mo. 

Joshua was of the Methodist faith. He was an honor roll student throughout grade school, high school and during his freshman year at college was a 4.0 student. While attending Pinckneyville Community High school, Joshua represented his school on the television show Scholar Bowl. While attending college he was an active member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity serving as past president as well as serving as a counselor for several years. Joshua moved to Phoenix, Ariz., with his fraternity brother, Chris Rodriguez, and worked in a club for the last three years. 

Joshua was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed all professional sports teams, but especially the Green Bay Packers. He played baseball, basketball and hockey with his fraternity while at college. Joshua was an avid watcher of the Simpsons, and had a copy of every episode.

Survivors include his mother, father and stepmother: Myung Kim, grandparents: Milton Leo and Marilyn Roberts of Pinckneyville, one half brother: Tony Kim of Dowell, two half sisters: Susan Kim and Katie Kim both of Dowell, two great uncles: David (Donna) Batson and family of Sparta, and Bob Batson of Pinckneyville, Great-Great Aunt: Loa Runion of Pinckneyville, special cousins John and Cassie Batson and Jeannine Batson Finney and Family , and many dear cousins and friends. 

Joshua was preceded in death by his uncle: Robbie Roberts, Great Leo Papa Roberts and great aunt and great uncle: Phyllis and Charlie Gray. 

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Wednesday, July 2, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. with Memorial Service following  at 7 p.m. with Rev. Jim Barnett officiating. Private family interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Centralia.
